Nick Suzuki, C, Montreal (Owen Sound-OHL)
Suzuki is one of the top forwards in the OHL in the past few years. He impressed at the U20 level this season and is projected to be a significant player for Team Canada. He’s a very smart playmaker with a high skill level and a big shot. He’s a nightmare to deal with on the power play and, despite being a small forward, is solid defensively. His skating is his main weakness, so seeing how he handles the quick pace of the world juniors will be interesting to scout.
Josh Brook, D, Montreal (Moose Jaw-WHL)
I was hesitant to be on the Josh Brook bandwagon, but he’s steadily won me over. Brook is one of the best defensemen in the WHL this season. I always appreciated his skating, but his skill and playmaking impressed me a lot of late, and I think he can be a good player at the World Junior level. He can move the puck and lead a rush. His defensive play isn’t elite but it’s come along.
